Not since the cootie wars of kindergarten have two sub-groups disdained each other more than vanilla and S/M lesbians. Heightened biases have never run higher.
According to vanilla lesbians polled, S/M dykes: are deviants; are just trying to get attention; take themselves too seriously; are enemies of capitalism and of gay and lesbian equality; see sex as the be-all and end-all of everything; and have a false superiority complex. Tops are secretly wimpy. Bottoms are narcissistic manipulators and usually major control freaks. S/M dykes are tattooed; wear leather; give decent, family-oriented lesbians a bad name; take the joy out of sex by labeling everything with some sort of power dynamic. They’re dismissive of us just because we’re vanilla. They listen to Enigma. They think they’re so cool and edgy and punk and it’s nothing but a front. They are anti-feminist. They look at me like I’m dirt.
